Types of Mesothelioma:
Causes and Symptoms

Benign MesotheliomaSince mesothelioma remains dormant before showing signs of symptoms, benign types of this condition are seldom seen. As attacking particles of asbestos gather in the linings of the lungs and stomach, the cellular membranes that encase those internal organs try to ward off the cancerous assault. This causes tumors to form, and as they grow they can begin putting pressure on the stomach and lungs causing a great amount of pain. Luckily, benign mesothelioma tumors can be surgically removed if they are caught in time. During the surgery there is a possible risk of leaking of pleural fluid that could drip into the lung cavity, but proper drainage eliminates this as a considerable threat.
Although mesothelioma in its benign form isn’t a valid threat to life, it shows evidence of considerable exposure to asbestos. Once benign mesothelioma is discovered by a doctor, an investigation is started to determine if the patient is at risk from any other conditions related to asbestos.
Benign tumor tissue is not cancerous, but it can still be a serious health
threat if no action is taken to treat it. Benign pleural diseases and
asbestosis should still be considered as valid health concerns.
